Indonesia: Emergency Assistance for Recovery and Rehabilitation from Recent Disasters

The program was to support relief work in West Nusa Tenggara and Central Sulawesi provinces, assess post-disaster needs, and prepare an action plan and projects for reconstruction. Its impact was socioeconomic impact of disasters reduced aligned with National Medium-Term Development Plan (Rencana Pembangunan Jangka Menengah Nasional), 2015–2019. Its outcome was adverse social impact of the recent disasters on the poor mitigated.
This report validates the completion report's assessment of the program. IED overall assessment: Successful.

Czech Finance Minister and EIB Governor Stanjura meets EIB leadership in Luxembourg

The Finance Minister of the Czech Republic Zbyněk Stanjura made his first visit today to the Luxembourg headquarters of the European Investment Bank Group since taking office in December 2021. Minister Stanjura, who is also a governor of the EIB, met EIB President Werner Hoyer to discuss EIB operations in the country, cooperation on the priorities of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union, mitigation of the social and economic effects of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on EU Member States, and the role of EIB Global in the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.

Malawi: African Development Bank extends grants of $9.25 million for rollout of Climate Disaster Risk Financing

The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank has approved two grants of $9.25 million to implement the Africa Disaster Risk Financing Programme (ADRiFi) in Malawi. The move will boost the country’s resilience against climate-related shocks and food insecurity.
The funding will support the government of Malawi to develop climate risk management solutions and pay its sovereign risk premium for the transfer of drought risks under the Africa Disaster Risk Financing Programme.

African Development Bank to launch public financial management academy to build capacity in African countries

The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank on Wednesday approved the creation of a virtual academy to build public financial management capacity in African countries. Countries will receive technical assistance through structured, targeted, dedicated and local training as well as through policy dialogue.
