Nepal: South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation Customs Reform and Modernization for Trade Facilitation Program

The program was expected to help expand the country’s trade and increase export competitiveness through simplified, harmonized, and modernized trade processes. Its expected impact was expanded exports and increased export competitiveness—as aligned with Nepal’s 14th periodic plan for fiscal year (FY) 2017–FY2020 and with the Trade Integration Strategy, 2016. The envisaged outcome was increased access by the legitimate trade to simplified, harmonized, and modernized trade processes.

Viet Nam: Energy Efficiency for Ho Chi Minh City Water Supply Project

The grant was partly to finance the installation of variable frequency drive for three water pumps to efficiently maintain the water pressure. This would reduce energy usage and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and better manage NRW as SAWACO's business rapidly expanded. The investment was expected to result in about 10,000 MWh or $500,000 per year of energy savings and about 7,500 tons of annual CO2 reduction.

Viet Nam: Power Transmission Investment Program (Tranche 1)

The MFF program was aimed at enhancing the capacity of the transmission network to balance power loads in northern, central, and southern Viet Nam, supporting the Government of Viet Nam in the development of the national power sector. This validation corresponds to tranche 1, which was to enhance the transmission networks in the eastern side of Ha Noi and the ring road transmission network in Ho Chi Minh City.

Viet Nam: Ho Chi Minh City Urban Mass Rapid Transit Line 2 Investment Program (Tranches 1 and 2, and Multitranche Financing Facility)

The multitranche financing facility (MFF) loan aimed to support Viet Nam’s plan to construct the HCMC Urban MRT Line 2. The investment program aimed to (i) construct 11.3 kilometers of dual track rail MRT from Ben Thanh to Tham Luong in HCMC, (ii) strengthen planning and prepare a policy framework for public transport, and (iii) provide project implementation support for urban transport agencies. The expected impact of the investment program was the establishment of an integrated, sustainable public transport system in six districts of HCMC.

People’s Republic of China: Comprehensive Agricultural Development Project

The project intended to (i) improve irrigation and drainage infrastructure on about 117,000 hectares (ha) of land; (ii) provide agricultural support for the improved area; and (iii) upgrade project management within State Office for Comprehensive Agriculture Development and participating provinces and counties.
