Armenia: Public Efficiency and Financial Markets Program (Subprograms 1 and 2)

The program aimed at strengthening the management of public debt and fiscal risk, increasing money market liquidity and transparency in financial markets. It also sought to increase corporate transparency to encourage the development of corporate debt and equity markets, by developing the legislative framework for new financial instruments.

Samoa: Renewable Energy Development and Power Sector Rehabilitation Project

The project’s expected impact was increased energy security. Its envisaged outcome was that customers’ access to a higher share of electricity generated by hydropower. It comprised the rehabilitation of three small hydropower plants (SHPs) in Upolu, construction of three new SHPs in Upolu and Savai’I, and provision of training to the EPC on operation and maintenance (O&M) for up to 2 years after plant commissioning of the SHPs.

Bangladesh: Financing Brick Kiln Efficiency Improvement Project

The project was designed as a financial intermediary loan to complement the government’s directive by catalyzing domestic capital and providing targeted finance to build capacity for replacing energy efficient brick kilns. The project’s envisaged impact was improved environmental conditions in Bangladesh. The expected outcome was the replacement of polluting FCKs with more energy-efficient kilns in Bangladesh’s brick sector.

Indonesia: Neighborhood Upgrading and Shelter Project (Phase 2)

The project’s envisaged impact was improved living conditions in urban areas while its envisaged outcome was improved infrastructure and access to service delivery in slum neighborhoods in 20 project cities. The project’s phase 2, the subject of this validation, was limited to providing targeted support to improve basic infrastructure in slum neighborhoods of 20 cities, adopting a community-driven development approach, and establishing new settlements.

Mongolia: Integrated Livelihoods Improvement and Sustainable Tourism in Khuvsgul Lake National Park Project

The project was formulated to address the issues of limited community benefits arising from tourism due to their limited capacities and resources; excessive livestock grazing, which caused damage to vegetation and soil; and pollution of the Khuvsgul Lake.

COP27: Spain, Swiss Confederation announce EUR 10 million support to African Development Bank Group’s Urban and Municipal Development Fund

In partnership with the African Development Bank Group, the Swiss Confederation through the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO)  and Spain today at COP 27  announced additional financial support to African countries and cities bearing the brunt of climate change.
