India: Multisector Project for Infrastructure Rehabilitation in Jammu and Kashmir

The project's expected impact is to bring the state's economy back to a normal course of economic growth. The project had four expected outcomes. The first is improved living conditions for the urban population in the state. The second is improved rural connectivity. The third is strengthened institutional capacity of the Economic Reconstruction Agency and project implementation units. The last is the incorporation of ADB Water Policy in ADB assistance.

India: Rural Roads Sector II Investment Program (Project 3)

The Government of India requested the Asian Development Bank for a multitranche financing facility (MFF) of $750 million over a 5-year availability period. This financing aims to contribute to the upgrading or construction of about 14,000 kilometers (km) of rural roads in the states of Assam, Orissa, and West Bengal; and to provide capacity building for road management as part of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadhak Yojana (Prime Minister's Rural Roads Program).

Sri Lanka: Eastern and North Central Provincial Road Project

Rural enterprises in Sri Lanka had cited transport as a major obstacle to starting or operating a business. Provincial roads provided essential connectivity, linking national roads, which connected consumer areas; and local roads, which connected rural agricultural production areas. Provincial roads also facilitated essential bus services, ensuring access to economic opportunities and inclusive growth. 

ECG Gender Practitioner Workshop

This workshop brought together evaluators from ECG member and observer institutions, as well as staff from the World Bank and IFC. The sessions want to stimulate a discussion on the approaches, challenges and solutions to integrate gender in evaluation in both projects and country strategies in order to improve methods and quality of evaluations.
