Pakistan: Update on Energy Sector Plan
The technical assistance (TA) aimed to provide the Government of Pakistan with options for the country’s future energy strategy by (i) assessing the progress made during 2010–2016 on the recommendations of the Integrated Energy Sector Recovery Report of the Friends of Democratic Pakistan (FODP), (ii) analyzing the lessons learned from the changing global realities, and (iii) proposing recommendations as inputs for the new medium-term energy policy (2018–2023).
This report validates the completion report's assessment of the TA. IED overall assessment is successful.
India: Jammu and Kashmir Urban Sector Development Investment Program (Project 2)
The project sought to improve municipal infrastructure for water supply, drainage, and urban transport. It also included institutional reform components, which aimed to advance sector reform and mainstream capacity building. Its expected impact was improved living environment in the target towns.

An agro-industrial project supported by the African Development Bank launched in Sinématiali in northern Côte d’Ivoire
The “kapatchan”, one of the traditional celebratory dances in the Senufo region, attracts women, youngsters, and elderly people, to the foot of the mango trees in the largest orchard in Sinématiali, in northern Côte d’Ivoire. On Wednesday 27 July, the sound of the balafon and the djembe accompanied the swaying hips of dancers from the neighbouring regions of Poro (which include Sinématiali), Bagoué, Tchologo and Hambol.,
Residents of Benin’s Ouémé Valley increase their incomes, thanks to an African Development Fund project
Following its launch in Benin in 2013, the Ouémé Valley Rural Infrastructure Support Project successfully improved the incomes of local populations. Rice farmers in the region now earn $361.47 a year, surpassing the target of $221.99.
The project, expected to close in December 2022, received $74.83 million in co-funding from the African Development Bank Group's concessional arm, the African Development Fund. Additional financing came from the Global Environment Facility.

The youth will drive Africa’s digital economy; hence the need to invest in their skills development to accelerate innovations and growth on the continent, African Development Bank Director General for East Africa Nnenna Nwabufo said.
Speaking at the 9th World Financial Innovation Series in Nairobi, Kenya, on 19 July, she noted that the youth are ambitious, enterprising, and eager for change. “Africa’s young people are the most avid adopters of ICTs and digital solutions.”
