African Climate Week 2022: In Central Africa, the African Development Bank collaborates with UN agencies to advance climate action

The African Development Bank and several UN agencies - the UN Regional Office for Central Africa, the Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) - are joining forces to advance climate action in Central Africa. This region is highly strategic in the fight against climate change as it is home to the Congo Basin rainforest, the second largest tropical forest on the planet and the only remaining net carbon sink on earth.

African Development Bank and Portugal sign EUR 400 million guarantee agreement to underpin Lusophone Compact

The African Development Bank and the Portuguese government have signed a guarantee agreement to be extended to the African Development Bank under the Lusophone Compact. The Compact offers a big boost to business development initiatives for the Bank’s non-sovereign portfolio in its Portuguese-speaking African member countries.,

African Development Bank president to inaugurate Port of Maio during visit to Cabo Verde

African Development Bank Group President Dr. Akinwumi Adesina will inaugurate the upgraded Port of Maio on Wednesday during a three-day visit to Cabo Verde.
The President will travel to Cabo Verde at the invitation of Prime Minister, Dr. José Ulisses Correia e Silva.
In 2018, the African Development Bank approved a $26 million facility to upgrade the ports of Maio and Palmeira. The European Union co-financed the project with a grant of €10 million.

In particular, the Government of Armenia privatized the Armenian electric distribution networks in 2002 to the Electric Networks of Armenia CJSC (ENA).
