The program aimed to enhance access to power and improve energy efficiency of Assam's power system. Tranches 1 and 2 financed transmission infrastructure, and tranche 3 the distribution infrastructure. Tranche 4 was focused on Assam’s central and upper zones. Tranche 4's expected impact was enhanced quality and expanded service delivery of electricity in Assam. Its intended outcome was increased operational capacity of Assam Power Distribution Corporation Limited (APDCL).

The program was to provide a medium-term, consistent, predictable, and coordinated support to the sector agencies involved in developing, operating, and managing rural roads. The program’s expected impact was the reduction in poverty and deprivation, and inclusive socioeconomic growth of the communities within the investment program roads. Its intended outcome was improved and sustained connectivity of selected rural communities in the investment program states to markets, district headquarters, and other centers of economic activity.

The project was designed to solve the city’s environmental and climate challenges through investments in facilities designed to manage about half of the sludge produced by Wuhan’s wastewater treatment plants in 2008. The intended outcome was integrated urban water resource management, and wastewater sludge treatment and disposal.

The project was to help strengthen the country’s energy security and build the capacity of UzbekEnergo, the sole power sector utility in the country, to operate combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plants, which utilize a more efficient technology. The project also aimed to enhance regional energy trade as Uzbekistan’s increased energy production could benefit other countries in the region, which was in line with the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) program.

The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group has approved a $10 million reimbursable grant from the Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa (SEFA) to support a geothermal drilling program that will add 50 megawatts of renewable energy to Ethiopia’s power system.
