Tajikistan: Access to Green Finance Project

The project was formulated to provide better financial access to smart green energy solutions (SGES). It addressed two key barriers affecting effective demand for SGES: the lack of affordable financing and insufficient buyer and lender awareness about SGES. The project provided loans through selected microfinance institutions to households in order for them to purchase and install affordable SGES.

Nepal: Capital Market and Infrastructure Capacity Support Project

The project was aimed at creating an enabling environment to spur long-term financing and enhance private sector participation. Its envisaged impact was greater availability of infrastructure services. Its expected outcome was greater private sector investment in the infrastructure sector.

Nepal: South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation Customs Reform and Modernization for Trade Facilitation Program

The program was expected to help expand the country’s trade and increase export competitiveness through simplified, harmonized, and modernized trade processes. Its expected impact was expanded exports and increased export competitiveness—as aligned with Nepal’s 14th periodic plan for fiscal year (FY) 2017–FY2020 and with the Trade Integration Strategy, 2016. The envisaged outcome was increased access by the legitimate trade to simplified, harmonized, and modernized trade processes.

Viet Nam: Energy Efficiency for Ho Chi Minh City Water Supply Project

The grant was partly to finance the installation of variable frequency drive for three water pumps to efficiently maintain the water pressure. This would reduce energy usage and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and better manage NRW as SAWACO's business rapidly expanded. The investment was expected to result in about 10,000 MWh or $500,000 per year of energy savings and about 7,500 tons of annual CO2 reduction.

People's Republic of China: Integrated Development of Key Townships in Central Liaoning

The project was aimed at addressing the infrastructure and other development needs by constructing wastewater management systems in Shenbei’s new district; improving district heating services in the Fuxin urban area, including the replacement of small boilers and heating stoves; rehabilitating and upgrading urban roads and alleys; constructing new urban roads and bridges; improving stormwater pipelines and sewer coverage; installing energy-conserving lighting and expanding public green areas; and capacity development and institutional strengthening of the Liaoning Project Management Office,

Viet Nam: Power Transmission Investment Program (Tranche 1)

The MFF program was aimed at enhancing the capacity of the transmission network to balance power loads in northern, central, and southern Viet Nam, supporting the Government of Viet Nam in the development of the national power sector. This validation corresponds to tranche 1, which was to enhance the transmission networks in the eastern side of Ha Noi and the ring road transmission network in Ho Chi Minh City.

Viet Nam: Ho Chi Minh City Urban Mass Rapid Transit Line 2 Investment Program (Tranches 1 and 2, and Multitranche Financing Facility)

The multitranche financing facility (MFF) loan aimed to support Viet Nam’s plan to construct the HCMC Urban MRT Line 2. The investment program aimed to (i) construct 11.3 kilometers of dual track rail MRT from Ben Thanh to Tham Luong in HCMC, (ii) strengthen planning and prepare a policy framework for public transport, and (iii) provide project implementation support for urban transport agencies. The expected impact of the investment program was the establishment of an integrated, sustainable public transport system in six districts of HCMC.
