African Development Bank Annual Meetings 2022: Time to tackle triple crises of food, energy and finances, says Ghanaian Finance Minister

Ghanaian Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta on Thursday emphasized the nation’s partnership with the African Development Bank in its development as he addressed journalists at a press conference to publicize the institution’s upcoming annual meetings.
Ofori-Atta described the meetings as seminal, in the context of a world seeking to rebalance in the wake of Covid-19 and the war in Ukraine.

Guangxi Southwestern Cities Development Project

The project was approved to address poverty in Guanxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The envisaged project impact was better living conditions in the project cities and stronger ability of these cities to participate in and benefit from regional cooperation. The expected outcome was expanded and upgraded urban infrastructure and urban environment that will help the project cities meet their expansion needs up to 2020.

Bangladesh: Dhaka Water Supply Sector Development Program

The project was to support reforms in the urban water supply sector by assisting the government to improve the management and operation of urban water supply institutions. The project had three components: (i) distribution system and quality improvement; (ii) capacity building and institutional strengthening; and (iii) project management and implementation support. The project’s envisaged impact was sustained economic growth and public health improvement in the country’s urban centers, specifically in the Dhaka metropolitan area.

India: Uttarakhand Urban Sector Development Investment Program – Project 1

The program was designed to improve urban residents’ quality of life and promote sustainable, efficient, and responsive services in the urban areas. The program’s expected impact was improved quality of life for urban residents in Uttarakhand’s 31 selected cities and towns. The envisaged outcome of project 1 was increased access to better quality and sustainable urban infrastructure and services for about 1.9 million people in Dehradun, Haridwar, and Nainital.
