At the ECG January 2016 meeting (chaired by IEG), members agreed to develop a guidance note intended to draw from member experiences with self-evaluations in order to identify practices that are believed to deal most effectively with challenges and contribute to extracting maximum value from self-evaluations.
At the ECG June 2016 meeting (chaired by EBRD) members shared their experiences and looked at ways to move the work forward. Issues identified included the:
- Use and importance of ratings.
- Use of self-evaluations – by evaluators and in terms of direct feedback into operations.
- Importance of incentives and perceived value (e.g. Board use).
- Quality of self-evaluation to serve as a learning tool, and value of quality control.
Members agreed to establish a Task Force that would identify key features of self-evaluation systems considered to be important for effectiveness and utility, and associated with results that are desirable
