The EBRD's use of subsidies (Phase 1)

The EBRD's use of subsidies in projects has increased substantially over the past decade, on par with the overall increase of Bank business volume. Key drivers of growth include the financial crisis and the Bank's expansion into new areas including climate change, clean energy and resource efficiency. The role of subsidies is likely to increase further under the Bank's current strategic direction.
